What kinds of activities do you engage in to calm and restore your spirit? I have a long list:
• Quality time with loved ones
• My animals
• Walking and spending time in nature
• Drawing and Painting, and…
Crafting differs from drawing and painting because instead of starting with a blank canvas, or piece of paper, and pulling images from my mind, it generally means (for me) that I begin with materials that have been used for a different purpose or way and I’m giving it a new life by adding or modifying.
How does this soothe and restore [More]

Last week I was telling you about my travels and the beautiful hearts I met along the way. It made me wonder, “Have I told you lately that I love you?”
People have been congratulating me this week on my induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame… and I am so very humbled. I am being honored for Longstanding (20+ years) Radio Presence.
Folks wonder how I could be doing what I’m doing for over 20 years! I’ve got news, I’ve been doing this for over 40 years!
The secret? I LOVE IT! I don’t ever feel like it’s work. Yes, sometimes [More]

When asked about July plans and I say things are a little “up in the air,” I’m not a kiddin’! I’ve zig-zagged my way from coast to coast several times in the last few weeks.
To Boston to support my Janey and her sister, Kerry, as she fought her final battle. To NYC for Broadway in Bryant Park, to Phoenix and a wonderful evening spent with listeners, back to Boston for the most love and laughter filled tribute to Kerry, and finally, to home sweet home in Washington state…
It took me a few minutes each morning to orient myself and remember [More]

Juuuuuuuuuuuuly! It’s here! It’s here!
Full-on, ain’t nobody foolin’ summertime! Glorious, glorious, summertime! My family and I kicked off the month, just as I described to you in last weeks newsletter, with a fun-filled fourth at the coast. We played, we ate, we oohed, we aahed. And, as the old social columns used to read, “A good time was had by all!”
But as fun as the weekend was for my family, there was a heaviness in my heart.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about my Executive Producer, Jane. My Janey Girl. My PERSON… On July 1, Jane lost her beautiful, beautiful [More]

And thus we bid June a sweet adieu…
A few short weeks ago, we has such ANTICIPATION! We wanted warm weather, long days, kids home from school, (we did?!) flowers to be in bloom, veggies to be sprouting…
Well friends, we’ve got ’em all! Now what?
I’ve heard complaints all week about…
How HOT it is…
How it’s hard to go to sleep and the sun wakes everyone up too early…
How there’s NOTHING to DO…
How everyone hates to weed…
I’m crackin’ up. Don’t we just ALWAYS have to have something to complain about?!
But I for one, am not. I’m stinkin’ loving it! I’m out in my [More]

Summer is OFFICIALLY here! Loooong days, lemonade, and uh, swimsuit season…
I HEARD that! I heard you groan! Well, I want to say Stop It!
This is something I notice every summer; men and women sitting around pools, beaches, water parks, in shorts or sundresses, but not DOING anything. Not participating.
Recently, on an outing with my youngest to a water park, I struck up a conversation with a mom, whose son was in the water with Delilah Jr. I’d been in and out of the water all afternoon and I asked the mom why she wasn’t swimming.
“Didn’t bring my suit.” was her [More]
