Are you a “Not Enough” person?
Do you ever feel like you don’t have enough, don’t get enough, deserve more? Do you feel cheated, wronged, looked over, taken advantage of?
Do you cut yourself the biggest slice of cake, or sneak the last piece of candy from the community bowl? Do you hold on to your money instead of supporting a charity or cause?
Is life just unfair? Can you share in the joy of others accomplishments and successes or do you feel resentment toward them and secretly (or not-so-secretly) complain that they are undeserving?
I know people like this. Regular people. Good people. People that get up in the morning, go to school or to work, do their jobs, and return home. They have families and come from all walks of life.
You know what they are missing? Peace. Happiness. Joy.
They are so consumed with feelings of frustration and resentment they look for every opportunity, “proof” if you will, to say “Aha! I told you, life sucks!”
I am so sad for them because life is actually wonderful.
There IS enough of everything for everyone and the biggest problem we face is that too many of us have too much.
I know people that have nothing. Or as close to nothing as you or I could imagine. No home, no food, only the clothes on their backs, and yet… they are at peace.
What? Why? How can this possibly be?
Well, probably they have a different brain chemistry than the “Not Enough’s” but also they have by nature, nurture, or the school of hard knocks, discovered the secret of Gratefulness. And once Gratefulness is discovered, the second part, Giving, kicks in.
When you have truly felt hunger like only a empty belly has felt, then you are Grateful when food is available. And IF you have felt this hunger, you have empathy for others who have also felt it. So, if you are given food, and you see that another has none, it is only natural that you offer them some of yours.
You see, if you feel like you don’t have enough, all you must do is give more away. Give of your time, your passion, your resources, your hard earned money. The satisfaction, joy and fulfillment you will feel when you do is AMAZING!
You will quickly realize that the more you give, the more you receive. And soon your proverbial cup will runneth over.
Martina McBride | Band Against Cancer, The Sarah Cannon Tour
Recently I chatted with the lovely Martina McBride and we got caught up on ALL SORTSA’ THINGS! Like, what moving out of her teeny tiny home town (population under 200) into the big city at age 19 was like for her (and her nervous mama.) Singing in bars until 3am most nights, hanging out with older people, and what she calls ‘the wrong crowd.’
Enter her husband, who she is still crazy stupid in love with to this day.
Martina says they laugh together every day, he even thinks SHE’S funny! A very passionate man, she says he’s gained patience with age, and they have never been happier! So amazing to hear and to share with you all that True Love is a real thing!
But about Band Against Cancer, The Sarah Cannon Tour… Martina tells me what she is doing (5 shows) is a privilege. How she believes that she was given a gift and it’s her responsibility to give back. Amen.
Sarah Cannon Research Institutes not only treat cancer patients, they treat the whole family through support and services that allow the patient to be surrounded by the people they love while they work through the process. Amen and Amen.
Martina speaks of her single, Just Around The Corner, with such passion. “We all struggle with something,” she says, “we are all dealing with something, large or small…”
I’m teaming up with Martina to give away a trip for two to Nashville, TN to attend the Band Against Cancer: The Sarah Cannon Tour concert on October 26, 2016! For your chance to win, please share your story about a cancer hero or heroine you know in 50 words or less. One winner will be randomly chosen.

Proud Mama’s | Girls of Grace
My beautiful Blessing, and Producer Janey’s Jesse, were in Ghana with me recently.
These two amazings worked soooo very hard for Point Hope, putting on a VBS for over 100 children. They facilitated crafts and games and assisted with feeding some very hungry mouths and hungry hearts.
They also helped in the nutrition program, weighing and hugging each child. I can barely think of a moment when there wasn’t a child in their arms, on their backs, or both!
These mama’s could not be more proud of our girls and the beautiful gracious, grateful, giving women they are growing into.
If you would like to learn more about the work of Point Hope, a voice for forgotten children, and feel the calling to donate or volunteer, check out their web page HERE.
Do you believe me about giving more to receive more? Go ahead, give away that huge slice of cake and see if the feelings you have afterward satiate your hunger more than a double chocolate fudge wedge of heaven would. Write to me and let me know!
Write to me anyway. I want to hear your stories of Gratefulness, Giving, Receiving and having Enough. Send your letters to firstname.lastname@example.org, I’ll be waiting for them!
Thank you for giving me your time, your attention, and lending an ear. Be happy, be well, and Love Someone,
