Unclutter and Reprioritize

  • 2:28 pm Thursday, January 26th, 2017 by Staff Writer

My book club this month is about de-cluttering your home, which is a very tangible way of recognizing your priorities and removing the road blocks that keep you from them.

What kind of “clutter” has gotten in the way of your priorities?

Can I tell you something? I could absolutely care less about what kind of car you drive, what label is on the inside or outside of your jacket, your jeans, your boots or shoes… Whether your handbag is Italian leather or pleather, your credit card gold, platinum, or non existent. I don’t care where you live, what your furniture looks [More]

Once upon a time, I had a “Baby Delilah,” named by her birth mother in Ghana in honor of me, she was welcomed into my heart the day she was born and into my home a few years after.

Baby D was a healthy, active baby and toddler, meeting all her benchmarks on time or early until she was 2. At that time she was afflicted by a mysterious illness and became unable to walk or move, her eye drooped, she became lax and unresponsive. Rushed to the hospital, there was no answers.

The other evening as I was tidying up the kitchen I happened to look up and notice something; my hammered copper stove cover that I was soooooo proud of when I built the farmhouse was absolutely COVERED in grease and grime. 12 years of it.

As everyone is breathing a deep sign of relief that 2016 is over, I thought I’d offer up a prayer for the new year. We need hope, we need peace, and we need to have something wonderful to look forward to.

God I pray that with a turning of the calendar you would turn our hearts towards you, and towards one another.

God let us leave the past in the past and let us move forward into this new year with hearts renewed. Fill our hearts with hope, and remove the trepidation and the fear that has paralyzed so many.

“Do one thing every day that scares you.”

The gift wrap’s been picked up and put into the recycler, the last ham sandwich has been eaten, and the excitement over the gifts has diminished to a slightly under manic manageable level. Must mean Christmas is over and the new year nearly upon us…

Many folks I know are happy that 2016 is slipping away and a new year is here! With the changing of the calendar comes new chapters, challenges, and fresh starts.

For people like me, that’s an exciting proposition. I love new challenges! I love new faces! I love doing new things and going new places and discovering [More]

It’s Christmas! Forgive & Let Go.

  • 4:51 pm Friday, January 6th, 2017 by Staff Writer

It’s Christmas, let us rejoice in the birth of our Savior. What better time to decide to Forgive and Let Go?

I talk about this a LOT. It’s some times easier said than done. But, holding on to anger and resentment is so exhausting! I want you to free yourself of this burden.

This does not mean you give up or give in. It means you let go of the need to control someone else, to “fix” situations that you can’t possibly fix. It means you forgive the someone who brought bitterness into your life.

It means you turn the burden over to [More]
