Are you holding summertime in your hands?

Sweet, sticky watermelon? Marshmallow roasting sticks? Maybe you held sparklers earlier this month? And maybe holding summer in your hands means tossing a Frisbee for your dog or a baseball to your kids. Perhaps you’re holding a good book, a glass of sweet tea, and the side of a hammock! Ahhhhh.

For me, holding summer in my hands usually involves a bowl of potato salad or a gourmet burger made with organic ground beef raised by my husband and grilled over a flame. Mmmmm. Picnics, barbecues, summer meals served up on a picnic table! That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

Have you read the book The Turquoise Table? It’s a wonderful story of one mother’s desire to get to know her neighbors. Author, Kristin Schell, bought a simple picnic table, painted it turquoise, and placed it in her front yard. She then began serving her family dinners there, and inviting neighbors to join in. Soon it became a gathering place for young and old alike, a place for friends to meet and connect. It’s a great book, full of insight  and fun recipes!

Listen to my podcast with Kristin Schell!

Though I’ve never painted a picnic table turquoise, I’ve  spent my adult life creating meals and memories for my kids and our friends. (And friends of friends of friends!) It’s what I do best, cook and feed great gatherings of people, to create opportunities for love and relationships to grow naturally.

In my line of work I get to meet and build relationships with many different radio program sponsors. Many become more than advertisers, they become friends and supporters.

I’d like to give recognition to three such companies which have contributed generously to Point Hope, lending their voice to the voiceless; forgotten children.

Many thanks to:

Balsam Hill, makers of incredibly life-like most realistic Christmas Trees, Fall Foliage, and now Spring Florals!

Balsam Hill has chosen Point Hope as a recipient of their Christmas in July charitable giving campaign.

Balsam Hill donates .50c for every Click & Like, and $1.00 for each Share of a Balsam Hill Facebook or social media post that mentions Point Hope. I’m unspeakably grateful!

For great entertainment, join us in the park. Come by for a hug, a selfie, and a photo too. I can’t wait to meet you!

This summer, invite a neighbor you don’t know to a barbecue, or in for a slice of  watermelon!

Whether you grill, have a low country boil with cray fish and sausage, or roast corn on the cob over an open fire, enjoy the delicious taste of summer!

This is a picture of my hubby, Papa Paul, dishing out dinner on our recent RV trip to Yellowstone. Nothing more delicious than dinner eaten on a picnic table!

Grasp summertime fully in your hands and make memories that will take you back to the times you’re celebrating today!

Much love and prayers for a safe and happy summer! Love Someone…
