Can it be November already? I’ve been in such a fog, it does not seem possible that so much time has passed me by.
Never have I seen the farm so vivid with color. Every tree, bush, and blade of grass seem to be in some sort of autumnal beauty contest, all vying for my attention. “Look at ME!” “Notice Me” they scream, pulling me begrudgingly from my sober thoughts.
In truth, I’ve resented it. How can the sun shine, the ducks quack, and world be so beautiful when my son is no longer in it? Does it not feel my pain? Does it not care?
But Zachariah loved nature, he reveled in it. He found peace and refuge when surrounded by trees, and trails, sand and sea, and critters…
Nature surrounds me. Zack surrounds me. Love surrounds me.

November Book Club | WONDER???
by R.J. Palacio, now a major motion picture.
Lionsgate presents, in association with Walden Media and Participant Media, a Mandeville Films /Lionsgate production.
If they are going to start making movies like this, we are going to have to replace our definition of Real – vs – Hollywood.
WONDER, the movie, is based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name by R.J. Palacio. It is the true story of an ordinary boy born into an unordinary body; one with facial differences that required multiple surgeries and kept him out of mainstream school settings until now.
August Pullman enters the 5th grade and becomes an overnight sensation. Auggie is soon the most unlikely of heroes as his new classmates, and the community at large, struggle to find their compassion and acceptance.
As is said in the book and the film, “You can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.”
WONDER will be in theaters on November 17th. It has a fantastic cast starring many of my favorites; Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, Jacob Tremblay, Mandy Patinkin, Daveed Diggs and Izabela Vidovic.
Hollywood just got real.
New Podcast | Max Lucado author of Anxious for Nothing
Conversations with Delilah
My latest podcast is with an insightful Christian author and preacher named Max Lucado. I’ve known Max for sometime and the information in his book, Anxious for Nothing, could not be more timely for me, and I suspect more than a few of you. He is smart, and kind, and loving, and has some real words of wisdom.
Anxiety is not something I experience often, but many of my children and family members do. I often struggle to understand what this must feel like for them, and how crippling it can become. Recently, however, I am all too familiar.
Please listen to me and Max Lucado HERE, and take a look at the rest of the series while your there. An easy chair with your name on it is calling at Conversations with Delilah. Come on in and join us!
I hope you all had a happy, and safe Halloween last night, sharing in the delight of children as they donned costumes (and personas) of sweet, magical, frightening and super-powered heroes.
My oldest son’s family dressed as a herd of dino’s and Blessing, Delilah Jr., Baby Paul, and I joined them in their large, fun neighborhood for a festive candy raid.
My heart hurts to repeat these annual traditions that Zack loved so much, but it is impossible not to smile and feel a leap of joy when Delilah strikes a flying pose as Super Girl, cape flapping behind, or when Baby Paul toddles about in his zebra suit.
Life is funny like that.
Over the years when I’ve asked – implored – you to Love Someone, never did I think I would be on the receiving end of the request in such a powerful way. So very grateful to you my faithful and loving friends.
