Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I, of course, am having a very difficult time.
It’s not been two months since I lost my precious son; I grieve, deeply, and the fact that the holidays are upon us seem quite surreal to me.
“How?” is what I ask myself daily, before taking several deep breaths, squaring my shoulders, and leaning forward into the present. Sometimes I don’t quite make it there, but still I try.
In the present, the kids are out of school and excited, I ride my horse for exercise and lungs full of fresh fall air, the dogs prance and bark and beg for attention, and there are things to be done. Many things, like making lasagna; several different kinds because two children are kosher and don’t eat the sausage variety, and one child has Celiac Disease, so the pasta mustn’t be wheat based.
I do this, and put out some fall decor, and so much more, all the while willing myself to BE PRESENT. And I am rewarded by moments of joy that light my spirit like a fireworks show. Brief but brilliant.
Delilah’s 12 Stockings of Christmas 2017!
It’s baaaaack!!! Once again, I’ve been playing Santa Claus (behind every jolly old elf, there’s a woman working tirelessly, you can be sure!) I’ve checked my list once, I’ve checked my list twice, and now I’m publishing it so that you can double-check my double-check, check?
I’ve filled 12 Stockings with a few of my favorite things (ok, more than a few!) some old and some new favorites, and I’ll pass the whole pile of them along to 12 lucky listeners!
Holiday Music from Sia, Train, for KING & COUNTRY, Pentatonix, Lindsey Stirling, Holidays Rule II, and Trolls Holiday!
$100 Gift Cards to be used on products from my dear sponsors, Balsam Hill, makers of the most realistic spring, fall, and Christmas foliage, The Company Store, where I go for the most comfortable pj’s, pillows, and everything I need for a good night’s sleep and a good day following, and Borden® Cheese, makers, of course of delicious, versatile cheeses, fabulous alone or in thousands of great dishes!
There’s a a clever little FUJIFILM Instax camera in the stocking, a soothing warm shoulder wrap heating pad from Sunbeam, and an ingenious curling iron I stumbled upon this summer and had to buy for all my girls from, Salon Tech.
Oh, and let’s not forget candy! A truly life-long favorite – Almond ROCA from the wonderful people at Brown and Hailey’s.
There are 14 gifts in all and I’m giving away 12 stockings full of them!
I’ll bet my favorite things will become your favorite things, and all you have to do is text or enter the Key Word on each of the days listed, to be entered into the sweepstakes.

New Christmas Movie | The Star
Of course I am going to say “Get yourself to the theater and watch The Star!” I told you all about it in last weeks newsletter, but it’s worth repeating… I have a part in this adorable animated movie about The First Christmas.
It’s a small part, but one I’m proud of and I had a great time working on the project. It’s playing in theaters everywhere right now! Be listening for my voice!*
From Sony Pictures Animation and Affirm Films, The Star follows a small but brave donkey named Bo, who is yearning for a life beyond his grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and heads out on the adventure of his dreams. He teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock, and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations.
Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow The Star and become unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas!
The Star is a joyful way for children and adults alike to experience the miracle of Christmas, the reason for the season, as folks might say. Make an afternoon or evening experience of it with a tour of Christmas lights and shared conversation about the baby in the manger and what a gift He was to the world.
* Hint: I’m John the Baptist’s mother…

Thanksgiving, a time to open your doors and your hearts to friends and family and those needing some of both. Mine will be open for business as usual and I will be present and welcome the abundance of noise, food, love and laughter.
I told my sis the other day, a blessed mess. And, I am grateful.
Thank you, my loyal supporters, for lifting me up, for always being there, and for the gift of you. I am wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
