Oh my, I feel so blessed!
The number of you that wished me a happy birthday was overwhelming! Thank you, dear friends.
When I first met my husband we soon found out we shared a birthday. Every year since, we THINK we are going to be able to sneak away and celebrate in some romantic and profound way… ha ha ha!
While we were able to get to a lovely big nursery and picked up a large variety of fruit trees for the farm, along with flats of primrose to bring a little color to paths and plantings, this year our ‘romantic’ dinner was at a favorite Chinese Buffet along with 10 or 12 others!
Romantic? Well, perhaps not, but we were definitely celebrated, loved and supported in the company of friends and family, which is the greatest gift of all!

Bob Seger | I Knew You When
The eighteenth studio album by American rock singer-songwriter Bob Seger, I Knew You When was released in November 2017, recorded in Nashville and Detroit and produced by Seger himself.
I Knew You When finds Seger reflecting back with appreciation on lifelong relationships forged early in his career, including his long-time friend Glenn Frey (whom he met the year this album cover photo of Seger was taken.) The album, dedicated to Frey, features other acknowledgements, including a cover of Lou Reed’s Busload of Faith and Leonard Cohen’s Democracy.
I Knew You When is just what one might expect; straightforward rock-executed with passion and skill- with frequent nods to the past. It’s the perfect way for Seger to say goodbye and thank you to an old friend and the perfect way for us to celebrate and acknowledge those who’ve made powerful impacts on our lives.
Post Valentine’s and birthday, Paul and I, along with Delilah Jr. and her best friend, Neveah, did spend some time at the ocean.
It was the first visit since losing Zack, and it was tough. I walked into the kids bathroom to find his green toothbrush on the counter, and stood in the boys bunk room painted “Zacky Green” with my soul screaming out to him to return to me.
Later I walked the beach and let the waves and the ocean air soothe my spirit. Another first of a million without his spark.
I ran into a couple of mermaids on my visit to the sea, dark and beautiful creatures, who had a little painting party with me.
First they danced a watery dance, and spoke in watery voices (just to get in the mood, ya know) and then they painted their little mermaid hearts out, which made this mama’s heart happy.
People ask “How do you do it?” which I take to mean, how do you go on after losing your precious one? I honestly don’t know, but I think mermaids may be part of the answer.
If you are hurting, if you are missing someone precious, I have no advice other than to Love Someone.
